Regulations
]

[ Article 1 ] :
FIDA DOC’SOUSS has been created to promote the documentary
cinema with professionals, broadcasters, the media and the
audience.
[ Article 2 ] : Directors of
the works selected for competition can be invited by the
festival.
[ Article 3 ] :
Films and programs proposed for selection and competing in the
Official Competition should have been produced as per January 1,
2009 and their duration should be over 52 minutes.
Films competing in the international competition should not have
been screened in Morocco before.
Films proposed for thematic selection do not require a precise
production date or duration.
[ Article 4 ] :
Any person proposing a film to the festival shall mention
whether it is the first film.
[ Article 5 ] :
Can be registered in the selection of films of all durations.
Films shall be proposed in DVD format.
[ Article 6 ] :
All mediums (film, video) can compete. Directors can compete
with many films, but only one work can be retained in the
official selection.
[ Article 7 ] :
Whoever registers the film guarantees the information indicated
on the registration sheet.
[ Article 8 ] :
Registration sheets and visionary video copies should be sent to
the festival office no later than
July 15, 2010.
[ Article 9 ] :
All films submitted to the selection should be in French or
English version or in original version with subtitles in French
or English.
DVDs shall be sent to selection by post, on the expeditor’s
expenses, accompanied with any wished press excerpt or
promotional material (trailer on DVD) and photography of the
film. The films sent shall be free of the customs duties (marked
“NON COMMERCIAL VALUE”); otherwise, they can be refused by the
festival office. The DVDs sent for the selection will not be
returned to the expeditor.
[ Article 10 ] :
The director and the beneficiaries (s) of the film(s) undertake
not to withdraw the film(s) as of the announcement of the
festival program during the press conference in mid- October
2010.
[ Article 11 ] :
Films are accepted to participate in specific screens determined
by the Board of Directors :
-Official selection (International Competition)
- Parallel screens (retrospectives, tributes, thematic screens,
round tables, white cards and all the special sessions).
The selection committee decides without call about sections in
which films are presented.
[ Article 12 ] :
The selection committee composed of professionals chooses the
films for the International Competition and for the Thematic
Selection.
[ Article 13 ] :
The selected films can compete for :
The Grand Prix
The Jury Award
The Audience Award
[ Article 14 ] :
Directors, producers and distributers of the works awarded in
the festival undertake to mention the awards that have been
granted to them both in press files and other promotional
material (posters, mail cards…).
[ Article 15 ] :
Presidents and members of the Juries (International and Youth)
are designed by the festival team in agreement with its Board of
Directors. Both juries are composed of three or five
professionals of the cinema, of the artistic and cultural world,
foreigner and French. Cannot be part of the jury whoever is
somehow associated with the production or the marketing of one
of the competing films
[ Article 16 ] :
The text of the original language and the list of subtitles of
the projected version shall be sent no later than the fifteenth
of September 2010 at the latest. Otherwise, FIDA DOC’SOUSS can
cancel the selection of the film.
The copies in the original version (French and/or English,
and/or Arabic subtitles) of the selected films shall be sent by
November 1st at the latest to the festival office. If need be,
Arabic subtitles will be organized for the films in the official
selection.
[ Article 17 ] :
For the projection of the selected works, producers shall supply
the following formats: DV CAM, Digital Beta or SP Beta.
Only the selections of open-air projections can be in DVD.
[ Article 18 ] :
The mailing fees of the copies and customs duties will be at the
expeditors’ expenses. Copies, as defined in Article 17, shall be
sent – via international carrier (marked “NON COMMERCIAL VALUE”)
or via registered mail to the festival headquarters or to any
other address communicated by the office:

[ Article 19 ] : The
festival bears the insurance fees of copies, as of their receipt,
until the re-expedition of the copy. In case of loss or
deterioration during this period, the festival is responsible
only for the value of the copy. Only the copies in good state of
projection will be accepted.
[ Article 20 ] : Any film
programmed during the 2010 Edition of the festival can remain
accessible, on DVD free of right, to the members of the
Association of Culture and Education via the Audiovisual (ACEA),
at the permanent video library f in its offices.
FIDA DOC’SOUSS has the right to digitalize the film for a data
base for internal usage
[ Article 21 ] : The
festival wishes to promote, support and accompany the films
selected in the official competition as well as those of the
parallel screens as part of the programs in other festivals of
the region. The festival has the right to use free of charge
these films for programs bearing FIDA DOC’SOUSS label,
undertaking to inform in prior the Producer of the work.
[ Article 22 ] : The
President of the A.C.E.A, organizer of FIDA DOC’SOUSS is
entitled to settle all cases not set forth in these regulations.
The registration of films in the festival is free and implies
the full acceptation of the regulations, only the French text is
the authentic one.
