> 1 grantee of the Fund for Young Francophone Creation:

  • VESTIGE DU PASSÉ by Fara Konaté (Senegal)

Totally free for its beneficiaries, this residency is led by 4 seasoned professionals in the field of documentary writing: the writer-director Marie-Pierre Brêtas (France), the writer-director Jean-Louis Gonnet (France), the critic and teacher-researcher Ikbal Zalila (Tunisia) and author-director-producer Hicham Falah (Morocco, France).

Like previous year, restrictions on international transport forced us to change at the last moment the program and schedule planned for this 10th edition.

We have therefore decided to organize the residency in two sessions. The first one took place in a hybrid way, face-to-face and online. From December 13 to 19, we hosted in Agadir 5 authors living in Morocco. The authors based in France were able to meet individually the mentors present in Paris, depending on their respective availability (between 6 and 22 December). During this period, we simultaneously scheduled online meetings so that the 12 authors could meet the 4 mentors at least once.

In the weeks to come, until the second session of the residency scheduled for spring 2022 in Agadir, the mentors will continue to follow the authors, who, depending on their project’s stage, are making research, scouting and/or in a (re)writing process.

ACEA warmly thanks all its partners which are supporting this 10th edition of the FIDADOC Documentary BeeHive and the organization of its Pan-African Writing Residence: the Civil Society of Multimedia Authors, the National Center for Cinema and Animated Image, the French Institute of Morocco, Documentary Africa, the Fund for Young Francophone Creation, International Media Service.
